Petroleum Technology Research Centre Receives Funding for Innovative Enhanced Oil Recovery Research
The PTRC have received $800,000 in funding from Western Diversification and Enterprise Saskatchewan, through the Western Economic Partnership Agreement, to conduct research that will reduce produced water during oil production. Cenovus Releases Weyburn Site Assessment Findings: Scientists Confirm CO2 Used in Oil Production Remains Underground
Cenovus Energy of Calgary, the operator of the Weyburn oil field in southeastern Saskatchewan, has released a report examining soil gas, well integrity and water quality on the land where allegations were raised in January of this year about CO2 contaminating soil and ground water.

The Weyburn Energy Innovation Centre, located at the City Hall in Weyburn, Saskatchewan, opened its doors with an official launch event on September 28th. The PTRC, as one of the four funding partners in this new interpretive centre, was on hand.
