STEPS Research Program
Maximizing Field Applicability
As a Business-Led Network of Centres of Excellence (BL-NCE), STEPS is industry focused. The PTRC co-ordinates and draws upon the expertise of industry and independent experts to build a strong, industry-focused annual research program.
The program each year is evaluated and determined by Technical Advisory Groups that are led by industry reps who meet in consulation with each other and with research providers to determine the best ways to meet hydrocarbon challenges facing Canada and the World. Currently, the "Heavy Oil and Bitumen" Technical Advisory Group is made up of individuals from these funding companies:
BP Exploration (Alaska) Inc
Canadian Natural Resources Limited
Husky Energy Inc.
Individual consultants and researchers also contribute to STEPS's Technical Advisory Groups. See the Our People section of this site for specific information. Funding also comes from our government partners, including:
Networks of Centres of Excellence
Saskatchewan Ministry of Energy and Resources
Western Economic Diversification
HOW TO BECOME INVOLVED IN STEPS
If your company is interested in becoming a funding partner in STEPS and leveraging millions of dollars worth of research annually, contact the STEPS administrator Danielle Riemer. Variable sponsorship levels are available, and can be tailored to specific company’s areas of interest. Once funding levels are determined, your company may play an active role in both determining the research directions of STEPS (through the various Technical Advisory Groups) and in evaluating the research being completed.
